1. How long have you guys known each other and how long have you been together as a band? Where are you from?

For almost of year as the current line-up; Joe and Mooki have been rocking JPT since 2003.  All the guys are currently from Dirty Jersey (Mooki grew up in the suburbs of DC in MD and Ed grew up in Venezuela).

2. What bands did you guys listen to growing up and which ones influenced you the most?

Too many to list -- we've each been soaking in any kind of music for as long as we can remember... We're suckers for Rock with a touch of Pop.

3. What would you like the listener to gain or get out of listening to a Justpassingthru CD?

Comradery while exposing the ugliness that we all have, hope in finding what we were meant to be.  And any kind of beautiful expression of the common glory of creation.

4. Let everyone know about your latest project. How smoothly did the writing and recording process go with this release?

Amazing!  With the new additions of Ron and Ed to the project, ideas were popping out of everywhere...  In fact, we are already working on new material for the next release.

5. Do any of the events going on in the world today such as the war with Iraq or other subject matter come into play when you are writing your lyrics or do you mainly focus on man's relationship with God?

It'd be crazy to say that we weren't affected by world news, but most of our lyrics are crafted as 'parables' with small truths about life and all the emotional reactions of how we choose to respond to them.

6. How would you guys describe your music? How far do you think you have progressed as a band since you first started?

Mainstream rock with pop sensibility and occasional hints of classic rock, funk & rap. The progression of the band has been amazing to reflect on... I have some pretty scary/funny recordings of early years that will always stay under lock and key!!!  Truly we have gone from local garage band to a mature modern rock act.

7. How would you describe your band and how would you describe the feeling knowing that you can help someone who's lost through your music and message?

A great group of extremely down-to-earth guys who are passionate about creating music that helps express the common glory and beauty of life.

8. What's the story behind the bands name?

This life is short and we are only kicking back here for a little while.  Make the most of EVERY moment given...  Phillipians 3:20a "But our citizenship is in heaven..."

9. This is the speak out portion of the interview. You can air your thoughts about anything you want. Let everyone know what's on your mind about any subject you like.

Their latest release Call Me Red is a figurative analogy based on the concept of the literary work, The Scarlet Letter. This classic Nathaniel Hawthorne novel is a well-known story. Lead singer, Mooki explains "The truth is that every human being who has graced the planet deserves a 'Scarlet Letter' because none of us are perfect and are all on the same journey. The songs written on this release are driven by the needs, hurts, longings and joys in the lives of people and relationships around us. We hope to communicate hope, encouragement and inspiration to everyone that hears them." Guitarist Ed Aular adds "We are really proud of the songwriting and overall sound of Call Me Red and are excited to perform these songs for audiences across the country."

The message woven throughout the songs of Call Me Red begs the intimate question 'What is your letter?'. Mooki explains "Call Me Red is an expression that I am a real person in need of God's grace. This realization changes all behavior, it drops chains and guilt and unleashes tangible expressions of love."

justpassingthru wants to impact their growing audiences with this powerful truth and its captivating music. Their sound and personalities are accessible to all people, regardless of age, circumstances, or where they are in their own personal journeys.
